In a significant move towards participatory governance, Jos South Local Government Area has convened a stakeholders’ engagement forum to gather direct input from its citizens for the 2026 fiscal plan.

The consultative meeting, held at the Jos South Secretariat, on Tuesday November 4th 2025, brought together a diverse group including community leaders, and representatives of various development associations. The primary focus was to discuss the critical role of community involvement in shaping the local government’s fiscal priorities.

Participants at the forum expressed widespread appreciation for the initiative, describing it as a crucial step in building an open and transparent budgeting process for the 2026 fiscal year.

A key presentation was delivered by the Council’s Director of Finance and Supplies, Mr Larry Gowon, who detailed how community input is essential for ensuring that budgetary decisions reflect the actual needs of the people.

Echoing this sentiment, the Director of Budget, Christy Gomut, expressed strong optimism about the collaborative process. Gomut said the LGC is committed to working hand in hand with citizens to bring development and progress.

The commitment to collaboration was further emphasized by the chairman of Jos South Local Government Council, who was represented at the event by the Deputy, Ngo Lucy Michael. The chairman stressed that transparency and accountability are foundational to his administration’s approach.
