In a landmark move to end decades of water scarcity, the Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, has commenced a 1,700 meter water extension project to serve the community of Fwagul, Gyel. The initiative brings hope to residents who have yearned for access to potable water for generations.
The Supervisory Counselor for Water Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) for Jos South Local Government, Honorable Nyam Dung Kim, provided details on the project. He explained that the initiative directly responds to a long standing cry from the community, who have desperately needed reliable water supply for years.
He noted that the Chairman deemed it fit to extend the water lines from the main source located opposite the NITEL Headquarters in Bukuru directly into the heart of Fwagul community, ensuring that residents no longer have to travel far in search of water.
A resident of the area, Mr. Ezekiel Monday Damboy, expressed profound gratitude over the development. Sharing his personal experience, he stated that he was born and raised in the community. At 38 years old, he revealed that long before he was born, the community had struggled to access potable, sustainable water. He credited the Chairman as the primary reason the community is finally accessing water today.
The water extension project represents a significant infrastructural investment, promising to alleviate the severe water shortages that have plagued the area for decades and dramatically improve the quality of life for the residents of Fwagul in Gyel.
