The Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, has received a high-powered delegation comprising all 17 local government chairmen on a peer review assessment tour.
The tour, a peer review mechanism across all the Local Government Areas of the state, began at the newly constructed Gura Dabwam bridge. The Chairman led his colleagues on an inspection of key projects executed by his administration, including the local government chapel, an ICT center, an ongoing skill acquisition center in Gyel, and a newly built sick bay within the secretariat complex.
The ALGON State Chairman personally commissioned the sick bay, highlighting its critical importance. He commended the initiative as a “very good development” and urged other chairmen to emulate the model to safeguard the health of their workers.
Following the project tour, the delegation paid homage to the traditional rulers of Jos South, led by the Gwom Rwei Jos South, who was represented by the Gwom Rwei Vwang.
The ALGON State Chairman, Hon. Hamisu Anani, explained that the tour was designed to assess each other’s performance, share ideas, and foster development. He also seized the opportunity to appeal to the traditional leaders for their support in mobilizing citizens for the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) exercise, expressing concern over Plateau State’s low turnout so far.
In his response, the Gwom Rwei Vwang praised the peer review initiative as unprecedented. He specifically commended the Executive Chairman of Jos South for the life changing bridge at Vwang Kogot and other developmental projects across the districts, stating that the people did not make a mistake in electing him. The royal father also pledged the council’s support in sensitizing the community for the voter registration drive and called for increased collaboration to tackle the state’s insecurity challenges.
The visit concluded with the ALGON members expressing satisfaction with the developmental strides witnessed in Jos South.
