In a significant move to address a longstanding issue, the Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government Area, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, has assured the residents of Zawan A ward that the years of darkness in their community will soon come to an end.
The Chairman made the pledge during a meeting with community leaders on Tuesday, where he called for their full cooperation with technicians who will be deployed to fix the problem.
Hon. Silas stated that he visited the area to see the situation firsthand and to personally hear their concerns.
During the meeting, the Councilor, Hon. Victor Dung Balang, thanked the Chairman for his intervention. He further drew the Chairman’s attention to a dilapidated bridge in the area, expressing confidence that the administration would also address that critical infrastructure need once its condition was assessed.
Adding his voice, a community leader, the Damanjei Dashat, Da Patrick Gyang, commended the Chairman’s inclusive approach to governance. He emphasized that the provision of basic amenities like electricity was for the benefit of all citizens, regardless of political affiliation, and praised Hon. Silas for representing the local government well.
In a separate event following the community engagement, Hon. Silas, who also serves as the Deputy ALGON Chairman for the state, led top officials of his administration on a condolence visit to the Executive Chairman of Barkin Ladi LGA, Hon. Pwajok Steven Gyang.
The delegation offered their sympathies on the passing of the wife of Hon. Gyang’s younger brother. Hon. Silas prayed for divine comfort for the family, urging them to take solace in their faith during the difficult time.
Hon. Gyang thanked his colleague and the delegation for their show of solidarity and support, describing it as a great comfort to him and his entire family.
Meanwhile, the Chairman also inspected the site of a 1000 capacity town hall currently under construction in Kwang. He assessed the progress of work and reiterated his administration’s commitment to providing projects that benefit the community and foster social development.
