In a bid to improve learning conditions for pupils, the Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government Area, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, has embarked on the renovation of classroom blocks at LEA Primary School, Gyel, and St. George’s Primary School, Rayfield.
The ongoing projects, which include roof repairs, repainting, and reinforcement of structural integrity, are part of the chairman’s commitment to enhancing educational infrastructure in the council area.
At LEA Primary School, Gyel, the dilapidated classroom block, which had posed safety risks to pupils and teachers, is being transformed with new roofing, windows, and doors. The chairman, during an inspection visit, emphasized the importance of a conducive learning environment in nurturing future leaders.
Similarly, the classroom block at St. George’s Primary School, Rayfield, is receiving a facelift, with workers replacing damaged roofing, windows, and doors, as well as repainting the walls. The chairman assured that the project would be completed promptly to minimize disruption to academic activities.
Hon. Dung reiterated his administration’s dedication to prioritizing education, hinting at more school rehabilitation projects in the pipeline. He called on stakeholders, including community leaders and parents, to support government efforts in maintaining the facilities.
Beyond Gyel and Rayfield, the renovation initiative will extend to one school each in the remaining three districts of Jos South. This phased approach ensures equitable development across the LGA.
Parents and teachers in both communities have expressed gratitude for the intervention, noting that the improvements will motivate pupils and enhance academic performance.
The renovation projects are expected to be completed in the coming weeks, just in time for the new academic session.
