HON. SILAS PATRICK DUNG HAS PRIORITIZED SECURITY, PEACEBUILDING, AND COMMUNITY SAFETY AS CORE PILLARS OF HIS ADMINISTRATION IN JOS SOUTH LGA.

Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, Executive Chairman of Jos South Local Government Area in Plateau State, has prioritized security, peacebuilding, and community safety as core pillars of his administration. His security initiatives focus on direct operational support, community-based intelligence, infrastructure development, and multi-stakeholder dialogue;

Logistics Support and Mobility for Security Agencies:
Hon. Silas Patrick Dungs administration procured and distributed 40 patrol motorcycles to bolster the operational efficiency of local security formations. These mobility assets were allocated across conventional and grassroot security structures including the Nigerian Police Force, the Special Task Force (STF/Operation Safe Haven), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), local vigilante groups, community police, and hunters to enable rapid response in hard-to-reach areas.

Infrastructure and Outpost Restoration:
He refurbished and reopened critical security infrastructure, such as the burnt Police Outpost in Du District. These reinstated police presence in vulnerable districts, restoring public confidence and deterring crime. He also upgraded the police station at Dashonong Ward of the LGA

Inclusive Stakeholder Engagement & Peace Building:
Hon. Silas Dung initiated comprehensive security council and stakeholder meetings bringing together traditional rulers (District and Village Heads), heads of security agencies, religious leaders, community youth representatives, MACBAN (Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria), and all Ardos in Jos South. By involving local community leaders directly in security discussions, his administration established proactive conflict-prevention channels aimed at mitigating inter-community tensions.

Community-Based Policing & Modern Reforms:
During working visits with state fact-finding committees and security panels, Hon. Silas Dung advocated for combining modern security technology with local knowledge and community-based intelligence to safeguard vulnerable populations. He has consistently urged security agencies to strengthen investigation and prosecution frameworks to ensure that perpetrators of violence face legal justice rather than returning to cycle violence in the local council. Also, to protect ongoing public development projects (such as schools, health centers, and bridges), his security strategy incorporates targeted patrols around work sites to prevent vandalism, theft, and security disruptions.
