The administration of the Executive Chairman, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, continues to prioritise education through improved school infrastructure, expanded access to secondary education, scholarship programmes, and strategic partnerships aimed at strengthening the educational sector across Jos South LGA.

Key achievements include:

IMPROVED INFRASTRUCTURE
Du District:
Upgrade of St. George’s Primary School, Topp Rayfield: Reconstruction of two classroom blocks, which facilitated state government approval for the school’s upgrade to Junior Secondary School level, bringing secondary education closer to students in the area. The school is already in operation.

Zawan District:
Renovation of one block of four (4) classrooms and two offices at RCM Zaramaganda. Construction of 85m fencing of Nomadic School, Gura Suga, Zawan.

Gyel District:
Renovation of one block of two classrooms at L.E.A. Gyel.

Vwang District:
Renovation of one block of two classrooms at RCM Turu.

Kuru District:
Construction of 510 meters perimeter fencing of LEA Sabon Pegi.
Renovation in our L.E.As also included the improvement of modern teaching aids and supply of instructional materials.

SCHOLARSHIPS:
The administration of Hon. Silas Patrick Dung has paid sufficient attention not only to school infrastructure but also to providing opportunities for citizens to have access to education across the country. Such initiatives include but are not limited to:

Payment of Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) registration fees for one thousand (1,000) students selected from all districts of Jos South Local Government Area. Beneficiaries enjoy adequate follow-up for admission and resumption support.

Scholarship for Jos South Students Studying at the Plateau State College of Health Technology:
Full-tuition scholarships for students of the Plateau State College of Health Technology, Zawan. A total of 70 indigenous students, drawn from 20 electoral wards at ND1 and HND1 levels, are currently enjoying this programme. This initiative eases the financial burden on beneficiaries while developing local healthcare manpower to strengthen primary healthcare services across the LGA.

Bursaries and Educational Assistance: This administration has provided financial support to over 20 students undergoing PhD and MSc programmes in different universities across the country. It has proven that finance should never be an impediment to human capital development.

Staff Training and Development: The administration of Hon. Silas Patrick Dung has ensured that constant training and development of staff for improved performance is prioritised. All elected and appointed councillors, directors, and designated sectional heads have enjoyed leadership and administrative training for effective and efficient service delivery.

Public-Private Partnerships in Education: Collaboration with civil society and non-governmental organisations, including SOS Children’s Villages, to support the construction of seven classrooms, a kindergarten hall, four offices, and a motorised borehole at Nomadic School, Gura Suga, Zawan District. Here, the LGA provided 85m fencing to secure the school facility and stop encroachment.

These interventions reflect the administration’s conviction that education is a strategic investment in human capital, opportunity, and sustainable development.

Through the Sei Vwel vision, the administration remains committed to creating better learning environments, expanding educational opportunities, and preparing the next generation for a brighter future. More work is ongoing, and the vision to ensure the quality of education and access to education is reasonably being attained.
