‎Jos South Local Government Council has held a Citizens and Stakeholders’ Engagement as part of its preparations for the 2027 Budget, providing a platform for residents and key stakeholders to articulate their needs, priorities and expectations for the coming fiscal year. The engagement brought together representatives of the Traditional Council, women and youth groups, Civil Society Organisations (CSOs), Persons Living with Disabilities (PWDs), Councillors and other relevant stakeholders drawn from the various wards and districts of the Local Government Area.
‎
‎The Executive Chairman of Jos South LGC, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, was represented at the event by the Deputy Chairman, Hon. Ngo Kachollom Lucy Michael, who delivered the Chairman’s opening remarks. In his welcome address, the Director of Budget and Planning, Alh. Shuaibu Anani, explained the purpose of the engagement and highlighted key projects and interventions recorded under the 2026 Budget.
‎
‎These achievements cut across critical sectors, including water supply, healthcare, security, education, infrastructure, youth development and economic empowerment. They include:

‎Goodwill messages were delivered by the Supervisory Councillor for Budget and Planning, Hon. Zang David Dongs; representatives of the women and youth groups; and the Dagwom Rwey Vwang, HRH Da Balak, who spoke on behalf of the Traditional Council. The speakers underscored the importance of inclusive governance, community participation and the need to ensure that the budget reflects the genuine needs of the people.
‎
‎A major highlight of the engagement was the grouping of participants according to their respective districts to deliberate on and identify priority projects and interventions for inclusion in the proposed 2027 Budget. This approach is intended to ensure that the needs of the various communities are adequately represented in the Local Government’s development plans.
‎
‎The engagement reaffirms the commitment of the Hon. Silas Patrick Dung-led Sei Vwel Administration to participatory governance, transparency, accountability and equitable development across the wards and districts of Jos South LGA.
‎
‎Through this consultative process, the Council seeks to develop a people-centred 2027 Budget that responds to community priorities, strengthens service delivery and advances sustainable development across the Local Government Area.
