The host council chairman of Jos South Local Government Area, who also serves as Deputy Chairman of the ALGON, has formally welcomed the 2026 Batch ‘B’ Stream I Orientation Course corps members to Plateau State, charging them to approach their national service with dedication and to cultivate harmonious ties with their host communities.
The Chairman made the call during a visit by the seventeen Local Government Chairmen to the NYSC Temporary Orientation Camp at WAYE Foundation, Doi-Du, Jos South, an event that coincided with the closing ceremony of the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) Exhibition for the ongoing orientation course.
As the chief host, the Jos South Chairman underscored the importance of the corps members embracing their primary assignments with seriousness while also integrating peacefully with local residents.
The delegation, led by ALGON Chairman Hon. Hamisu Anani, reaffirmed the collective resolve of all 17 councils to provide a supportive environment for corps members posted to their areas. In a demonstration of that commitment, Anani presented a ₦5 million donation on behalf of the Chairmen to the NYSC Plateau State Secretariat to bolster the orientation programme.
In his response, the Plateau State NYSC Coordinator, Mr. Jonathan Iliya Yavala, thanked the Chairmen for their solidarity, describing the visit as well-timed. He noted that with the corps members soon to be deployed across the state, the entrepreneurial skills honed through the SAED training would be instrumental in driving self reliance and grassroots development.
Following the formal proceedings, the State Coordinator guided the Chairmen through the exhibition stands, where corps members displayed a variety of products and innovations.
The corps members are expected to complete their orientation and proceed to their Places of Primary Assignment in the coming days, with the Chairmen reiterating their readiness to oversee a hitch free deployment and community integration process.
