A high-powered delegation from Jos South Local Government Area has paid a visit to the Commissioner of Transport, Hon. Davou Jatau, on Monday 19 May, to commend the Plateau State Government for the recent deployment of additional Metro Buses across the state while advocating for route extensions to serve more communities.

The team, representing the Local Government Chairman, Hon. Silas Patrick Dung, was led by Council Secretary, Hon. David Dusu, and included Director of Research, Hon. Gabriel Pam, and the Chairman’s Personal Assistant, Hon. Mafeng Musa. The delegation visited the Transport Ministry to congratulate the Commissioner on the fleet expansion.

During the meeting, the delegation presented a carefully considered request for new routes to better connect Jos South’s underserved areas: Bukuru to Vom, Zawan Junction to Mararaban Jama’a, Kugiya through Du to JUTH, and Kugiya to Terminus.

In his response, Hon. Jatau expressed appreciation for the delegation’s suggestions and he affirmed that these routes were already being considered and would begin seeing Metro Bus operations in the coming days.

He praised Jos South’s proactive approach to community development, noting that such collaborations between local governments and state ministries are crucial for effective service delivery.

This development comes as part of the state government’s broader initiative to enhance public transportation and improve economic connectivity across Plateau State.
